Carriage Reference position is critical for scanning and WISP functionality. The carriage position is tracked by measuring the rotations of an encoder mounted on the carriage drum shaft. This is measured and tracked by the PLC and Optimizer independently, they should have nearly identical position values.
Ensure your Reference Sensor switch is Clear
Navigate to encoder reference screen
Clear Reference
Drive carriage onto the reference switch, if not already blocked by carriage
Drive carriage off the reference switch
Ensure carriage referenced flag is green
Stop Carriage motion and click the blue reference scanner button
Return to operators display and scan to verify
The Optimizer application alerted you that carriage referencing was required
The log is not correctly positioned in relation to the carriage on the Optimizer HMI
System power was lost, or the Scanner cabinet was turned off for any reason
Restart Optimizer Application
Verify the Encoder is counting as the carriage moves
If the Encoder is not counting check the encoder mounting and connection cables-terminals
Carriage reference switch is activating when blocked by the carriage and clearing when not blocked
Shotgun carriages reference after each new log and return to the log loading area. This is because the third rail wheel can slip during production.
LumberPro Carriage Reference process involves moving the Saw to the Home position and referencing from the base position.
