Hydraulic Flushing Guide

Flushing the hydraulic system at start up, or after any hose replacements is highly recommended. This insure no debris, metal shaving, or other materials that could damage the valves are allowed to flow through them. This is a critical step in the startup process, and can take 4-8 hours depending on ambient temperatures.

Hydraulic Flushing Procedure

Ensure Servo Valves are bypassed, hoses connected directly, skipping each knee valve
Open blocking valve, either on the operators console, or hot wiring the blocking valve in the carriage junction box
Start setworks HPU. On first start up, check pump spin direction, every connection for leaks and verify pressure on gauge in system. Make sure to watch oil level as well, as its usually dips first time filling the system
Leave running in the bypassed configuration for at least 4 hours. Tank should be hot to the touch. If colder, may need to run for up to 8 hours
While flushing open and close the blocking valve several times to "shock" the system with a start/stop of circulation to help dislodge any debris
